Governing Structure and Quality Assurance
The IDB Business School has structures and processes that contribute directly to creating, maintaining and controlling the quality of the Executive MBA Programme. We see quality as an outcome of a number of structures, processes and behaviours. IBD has a long and strong tradition of quality assurance in designing and delivering management development programmes. We are confident that combining Ashridge strengths and credentials with IBD experience will allow us to exceed the quality of MBA programmes available in Poland.
Quality Assurance Objectives
- Meeting the UK business education quality standards
Combining Ashridge-designed curriculum with IBD stringent quality control, as evidenced by our ISO-9001:2009 Certification, results in an EMBA programme comparable to those of the leading UK business schools.
- Exceeding student expectations
Our Quality Assurance system is designed to meet and exceed student expectations. Students will be asked to assess the curriculum, learning experience and support providing during and after MBA studies. Our aim is to receive at least an 85% approval rating consisting of good and very good scores on our annual quality surveys conducted among EMBA students and graduates.
- Setting the bar for quality with the IBD EMBA in Poland
Based on our 25 years of experience in executive development, we aim at being one of the top five EMBA programmes in Poland within five years after the first graduating class. In so doing, we have partnered with Ashridge to create a curriculum that reflects the highest standards and best practices of a leading UK business school.
The above-outlined quality standards and objectives will be supervised by three IBD committees established at the Supervisory Board and MBA Programme levels.
Academic Review Committee
A standing committee in IBD’s Supervisory Board chaired by Professor N. Bulent Gultekin, Ph.D. from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A., IBD Supervisory Board member. This Committee plays a role similar to the one played by the Boards of Governors at traditional academic institutions. It reviews the quality of academic programmes from the perspective of international standards of business education, and examines their outcome for IBD strategy and market positioning.
Ethics and Social Responsibility Committee
A standing committee in IBD’s Supervisory Board chaired by Mira Dziedzic-Hanc, IBD Business School Vice-President. The Ethics & Social Responsibility Committee is responsible for ensuring ethical standards in all activities undertaken by IBD in relation to its staff members, students, clients, professional community and society at large. It is also responsible for building active agendas for IBD social responsibility concerns, policies and actions. Its mandate includes developing and maintaining structures, processes and procedures for assessing and monitoring ethical aspects of IBD activities. It particularly concerns research subjects and processes employed by students and professors in various activities related to communication, class performance and research process.
Chaired by Dr Henryk Sterniczuk, Professor at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John, Canada. This committee reports to the IBD Business School Supervisory Board’s Academic Review Committee. The IBD Academic Committee combines the roles played by the Faculty Council and Senate in traditional universities. It is the IBD Business School’s academic authority. It awards IBD qualifications and is responsible for the IBD Business School’s academic policies and academic development with reference to all academic maters handled by academic sub-committees.
It concentrates on the following matters:
- Academic strategy and culture
- Quality assurance, quality enhancement and academic standards
- Award of qualifications
- Student matters
- Reporting and academic oversight
MBA Advisory Board
The IBD Business School has an MBA Advisory Board comprised of local and international leaders who generously offer their expertise and share their experience with the School. The role of the Board is to provide guidance and input for the continuing development of the IBD EMBA’s quality and reputation. Board members offer their expertise to ensure that EMBA’s curriculum and teaching methods align with employers’ needs and international standards of quality. The Board also creates networking and experiential learning opportunities for students.
